Herbs for Imbolc
Herbs for Imbolc
Imbolc, the wheel turns and we awaken the fire deep within. While we light candles to illuminate the dark, it, too, is a beautiful time to light the spark of desire and becomings.
This is a time of fertility. We become pregnant with ideas and dreams that will take shape over the next two seasons of spring awakening and the fire of summer.
Use this time well. Envision your life as you will it.
Many seeds can still be planted, even atop the icy crust of the snow. The chill and deep stillness is necessary to those seeds, and as it thaws, they are nourished by the cold damp and soon will sprout into new life. What a message of hope.
And isn’t that so of our wishes?
You can still give those dreams time to rest, but now is still a good time to cast particular seeds.
This is also a great time to express love. Removing all the intensities and pressuring of Valentine’s Day commercialism, we can use that time to gather the universal feeling of love in the air and redirect it in a more powerful and genuine way to give ourselves and our loved ones unconditional love. What does that look and feel like for you? I encourage you to pinpoint the ways in which you feel most loved and offer that to yourself.
If you are having a particularly difficult time to move out of the depths of winter (which is quite needed by the way, and quite normal, so do not be too hard on yourself!), the plant allies can be here to guide you forward.
Some suggested herbs for this time are:
Angelica for protection and movement.
Schisandra for activating the fires within.
Hibiscus, a juicy self love tonic.
Red raspberry for fertility/creativity.
Cacao for some direct nourishment from the teat of Gaia and a boost of energy to move toward your passions.
Remember that your life is built in all the small moments of careful intention, and we can take the power back to create that life.
Ignite that inner flame and strength.
Beautiful becomings to you,
Adrienne
